What we handle

Long-term disability

Your disability claim was denied, or your benefits were cut off. That letter isn’t always the last word.

Draft. This text hasn’t been approved yet. Marty will review it before launch.

What usually happens

You paid for disability insurance, often through a benefits plan, so you’d be looked after if you couldn’t work. Then the insurance company says no, or stops paying.

Denial letters usually offer an appeal inside the insurance company. There may also be a right to go to court. The choice between them, and the timing, matters. [MARTY TO CONFIRM: how to describe appeals and limitation periods here, in plain English.]

What we do

  • Read the denial letter and your policy, and explain them in plain English.
  • Tell you straight what your options are, including when it’s not worth the fight.
  • Gather what’s needed, like medical records, and deal with the insurance company.
  • Keep track of the deadlines so you don’t have to.

Your next step

Tell us what happened. If you have the denial letter, keep it handy. We’ll ask about it.
